Murphy’s Live presents CORK X SOUTHWEST 2008
The Showgrounds, Skibbereen, Co. Cork – Saturday July 26, 2008.

The beautiful West Cork town of Skibbereen once again throws open its Showgrounds to the budding eclectic music festival Cork X Southwest.
Saturday July 26th will see the streets of the laid back West Cork idyll teeming with lovers and makers of music. Now in its second year, Cork X Southwest promises to showcase a wealth of independent Irish and international music talent, from rock to world, folk to dance.
Hosted in the picturesque Showgrounds on the outskirts of Skibbereen, Cork X Southwest is a thriving new one day event that brings together a veritable feast for the senses – music, food, art and quirky sideshows, presented in a friendly, informal, relaxed atmosphere.
Cork X Southwest 2008 sees the festival grow in both size and variety. The Main Stage returns and will feature acclaimed national and international music acts. The Electronic Tent will offer the very best local and international DJs and dance acts and for the first time, an acoustic offering, De Barras Sitting Room Sessions, hosted by the world famous Clonakilty venue.
In keeping with the West Cork vibe, local producers will provide delicious organic festival treats, cooked in the slow food ethic, local artists and sculptors will contribute to the ambience of the festival site and many fringe activities will be on offer.
Friday July 25 will also see the addition of a Festival Fringe, to kick start the weekend. Some of Skibbereen’s finest hostelries will host live performances from the cream of up and coming Irish bands.
2007’s inaugural Cork X Southwest featured an incredible line up of local talent including The Frank and Walters, Fred and Stanley Super 800. The 2008 gathering sees the organisers extending an invitation to an array of musical blow-ins. The mix of established and emerging Irish and international artists will make for an eclectic line up that should satisfy the most discerning of music lovers.
A music festival, run by music fans for music fans, Cork X Southwest is a long-term labour of love, which will be carefully nurtured and lovingly tended to over the coming years.

ooooohhhhh!!
50 euros is a bit step seeing as the show grounds aint exactly an impenetrable fortress. The bands are very good but spending that much money on anything in skibb should come with breakfast or a complementary reach around.
are the tickets sold on the fringe of the showgrounds, or picked up elsewhere?
Hi,
