Cork Midsummer Festival 2008, 15th June – 5th July

The Midsummer Festival is back, with a broad line-up of events and exhibitions from the familiar to the not so familiar. The Spiegeltent will again host some of the most anticipated live music events of the festival. International attractions will see shows with Faust and The Fall, while local acts to play this year include Jodavino, Mick Flannery, Rulers Of The Planet and Aine Duffy. In addition, Stanley Super 800 will bring a country set to the Spiegeltent, and the Frank And Walters are to perform the Grand Parade album in full and even field a Q&A session afterwards.

On Sunday 22nd June an afternoon show under the banner of ‘Cork Guitar Poets Mash’ will feature the local talents of Ger Wolfe and the New Skylarks, Ian Whitty and the Exchange, Aaron Dillon, Cian and special guests. Running nightly throughout the festival, The Last Resort will be an after-gig festival club incorporating Yurah Langer, a talent contest inviting those brave enough to show off their party pieces in front of the late night audiences.

Other Misdummer festival events include the Picnic in the Park, a Spencer Tunick installation at Blarney Castle, comedy, theatre, dance and circus events among others.
