Hi Monkey, just wanted to respond to your post to say that we appreciate your point about the cost of tix for HBE and to assure you that we endeavour to keep our prices as low as possible. In this case the venue is very special and the cost of putting on a gig in such a place is much greater than in a purpose built venue where the ticket price can be lower. Keep an eye and ear out over the next while for ticket giveaways and competitions – you might be lucky. If anyone fancies a treat though I must say that Hypnotic Brass Ensemble are worth every penny.

The Cork Jazz Fest this year was amazing, the Everyman Palace Theatre Sun Ra Arkestra was wild! Gilad Atzmon, unknown to me at the time was outstanding, I went to the double bill for Jack Dejohnette as much as I enjoyed him, Gilad stood out world-class to say the least! Other artists I had not heard of before Milk & Jade, wonderfull fresh stuff and the jazz poetry session by Morley Hayden & Haines in the Gresham Metropole was fantastic! Roll on Cork 2010!

I am manager to Dimitry Datus. The band are looking for a gig for the halloween weekend. Any ideas?

let me tell you a bit about the band

The band is made up of 3 experienced musicians from the great republic of Cork who have played in venues up and down the country and have supported among others JJ72 and Director.

Dimitry Datus musical taste is mainly 1920′s traditional gypsy hurdy-gurdy ballads, but the kind of music played when performing live is influenced more from rocky rolly kinds of lads like led zeppelin to pink floyd to 80′s alternatives pixies, sonic youth, breeders and more recent bands like yeah yeah yeahs, and green day. If it’s good, and there’s genuine originality and talent, it has some degree of influence.

Dimitry Datus have just finished writing new original material and Dimitry Datus is out and about, gigging.letting everyone hear the songs, and stomping out the Russkaya Plysovaya.

It was a very badly organised weekend. One of the worst I have ever been at. Mud and dirt everywhere, Musicians treated very Badly and so much more. Someone walked away with alot of money from this at the expense of the Punters and Artists.
